Rack & Roll, All Year Long!
Did you know...
- Saskatoon Transit now has over 100 buses equiped with bike racks.
- Bike racks are available all year long.
- There is no extra charge to bring your bike.
- Each rack can carry two bikes.
Go-Pass Smart Card
New! Go-Pass Smart Card
On February 1, 2010, the Go-Pass Smart Card will become your Ticket to Ride on Saskatoon Transit. Coins will continue to be accepted, but the use of paper money and paper tickets will be discontinued at that time.
Paying by Cash: Starting February 1, 2010, the new system will no longer accept paper money. Riders will be able to continue to use coins for cash fares. As you enter the bus, deposit your coins (make sure you have exact change) in the new fare box. It will automatically count your change and display what you have deposited to both yourself and the operator.
Transfers: Please continue to ask the bus operator for a transfer if you require a transfer. Once your initial fare is registered in the fare box, the operator will print out a transfer with a bar code on it. This transfer can now be used on your next bus within 60 minutes. Just scan your transfer on the new fare box reader when you board your next bus.
Monthly Pass: Each month you simply take your re-usable Go-Pass to your closest bus pass vendor and purchase another month of service. The Go-Pass is automatically reloaded. Easy and convenient!
Seniors & Discounted Bus Pass Program: People using the Discounted Bus Pass Program must first register with the Saskatoon Transit Customer Service Centre in the downtown bus terminal for their new Go-Pass card. Once registered, discounted pass users will be able to reload their Go-Pass at any vendor. Seniors will continue to purchase 6-month/12-month fare in the form of a Go-Pass at the Customer Service Centre. Seniors’ monthly and 3-month fare can continue to be purchased and loaded on the Go-Pass at any of our vendors.
Paper Tickets: As of January 20, 2010, paper tickets will no longer be sold. Instead of tickets, ten-ride packages will be sold and loaded onto your Go-pass Card. Starting February 1, 2010, the use of paper tickets will be discontinued. Anyone who has paper tickets can exchange them for an equal value pre-paid Go-Pass card at the Saskatoon Transit Customer Service Centre. Saskatoon Transit will continue to trade tickets for equal value until September 30, 2010. A display on the fare box will tell the user how much remains on their card each time they board the bus.
Day Pass: Instead of a paper Day Pass, riders will use a disposable multi-use Go-Pass available for sale at the Saskatoon Transit Customer Service Centre. The card will expire 24 hours after the first time you swipe it. The new multi-use Go-Pass can still be used as a family pass on weekends.
What happens if I lose my Go-Pass?
One of the benefits of the new Go-Pass Smart Card is that it can be personalized. If lost or stolen, the card can be deactivated and the value left on that card can be transferred to a new Go-Pass card. Personalization of your regular Go-Pass is voluntary and must be done at the Saskatoon Transit Customer Service Centre in the downtown bus terminal. Any replacements transferred to a new card must be done at the Downtown Customer Service Centre.
Route Changes in Briarwood
Transit Route 5 and DART 60 were changed in Briarwood effective December 6, 2009.
DART 60 no longer serves Briarwood, instead it travels from Heritage via Boychuk and Taylor to Herold Road.
Route 5 now travels from 8th Street to Boychuk Drive, looping around Briarwood via Briarwood Road in a counterclockwise direction before returning to Boychuk and then back onto 8th Street. Several stops were moved and several new stops were created. The stops on Briargate and Briarvale Roads were removed as there is no longer transit service on these streets.

Transit Service on Statutory Holidays
On April 20, 2009, City Council approved a budget to allow Saskatoon Transit to provide bus service on statutory holidays that traditionally did not have service. These holidays include: New Year's Day, Good Friday, Canada Day, Labour Day, and Christmas. Transit service on statutory holidays runs on a Holiday/Sunday service schedule.
Universal Transit Pass (U-PASS) for University of Saskatchewan students
In September 2007, University of Saskatchewan undergraduate students began paying a mandatory fee for a universal Transit pass (U-PASS). The U-PASS offers students huge savings for transporation on Saskatoon Transit. In November 2008, students voted in favour of continuing the U-PASS program on a permanent basis.
Although the new U-PASS is mandatory for full and part time undergraduate students at the University, students with special circumstances may apply to the USSU (University of Saskatchewan Students Union) for exemption from paying the U-PASS fee. Students eligible for the exemption include those living outside of city limits, those enrolled in distance education programs, those who live on campus at one of the residences, or those who have a valid disability parking pass.
Plan your route - Make sure you are ready for classes by planning your transit route. Use the Click & Go service (see link navigation bar to the left). It's so easy!
