The City of Saskatoon's Waste Bin Grant for Multi-Unit Dwellings has been renewed for 2012.
Property owners will have up to November 1, 2012 to submit their application, with payment issued annually in December of each year. A submission must be made annually for the grant.
Under the grant, property owners and Condominium Associations will, upon submission of an application (PDF), qualify for a grant amount of $8/year per residential unit. It will be up to property owners to determine how they want to utilize the grant. It could be used to purchase and maintain their own bin and utilize the city collection services, which are paid for through their taxes, or to pay for a private waste removal service.
The grant program is offered to offset the cost of purchasing and maintaining metal waste bins for multi-unit dwelling owners and condominium associations. Properties which already have metal waste containers qualify for this program (generally those with more than four units). Properties which have roll-out garbage carts for each individual unit receive waste containers directly from the City; therefore, they are not part of this program.
Please note that if you intend to purchase a new metal bin, it must be pre-approved by the Environmental Services Branch if you plan to utilize the City’s collection Service.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact the Environmental Services Branch at 975-2487 or by email at enviromental.services@saskatoon.ca.
