Scheduled Pothole Patching
Crews continue to patch potholes night and day seven days a week, as weather permits. Private contractors have been hired to assist with the work due to the large number of potholes, a result of the freeze/thaw cycles earlier in 2011.
The first priority is to repair potholes on the busiest streets in Saskatoon to help keep traffic moving safely. Crews are also focusing on some problem areas. In order to expedite service and increase traffic safety, crews are focusing on the larger holes and defects in wheel paths. Smaller holes that are an inconvenience and not a safety concern will be left for later in the season.
This year we have changed the way pothole patchers move about the city. The patchers will be following the same schedule as the sweeping program, except they will be working about a day or two behind the sweepers. This will allow for complete covering of the city by the time the sweeping program is complete. This week we will be patching in:

Residents are encouraged to help the City locate potholes and settled roadway cuts by reporting them to Public Works at 975-2491 or 975-2476.
Road maintenance equipment is large and slow moving. Motorists are asked to please exercise caution when passing.
