Two Community Relations Coordinators work fulltime as liaisons between the public and the fire department to promote fire and life safety education. We are committed to building and maintaining a good working relationship with the education, business, institutional, and social sectors of the city. As such, Saskatoon Fire and Protective Services works closely with community associations, parent and seniors' groups. This relationship is fostered throughout the year with fire and life safety presentations and events. Many of those events have become mainstays in the community. Each year, Fire Prevention Week open houses, Demonstrations at the Exhibition, and Badge, Shield and Star Awards Dinner draw thousands of people.
Community Relations Coordinators are also responsible for The Juvenile Firestop Program. This intervention plan assists young firesetters and their families by providing education and referral information. Information on recruitment is also available from SFPS Community Relations.
