The mandate of the Development Review Section is to facilitate the orderly use and development of property in accordance with accepted community standards.
The responsibilities of the Development Review Section include:
- managing and amending the Zoning Bylaw No. 8770
- reviewing and issuing development permits, sign permits and portable sign licenses
- preparing reports for consideration by City Council pertaining to rezoning, discretionary use, and condominium conversion applications
- undertaking public consultation in conjunction with all development activities where required
- investigating land use complaints, and if necessary, initiating enforcement action to resolve violations of the Zoning Bylaw No. 8770
- reviewing and approving subdivision applications
- producing the City of Saskatoon 2 Year Land Development Program
- providing planning advice to all individuals, businesses, and associations considering development proposals
- representing the City of Saskatoon at the Development Appeals Board and Saskatchewan Municipal Board hearings
- encouraging and support the conservation of selected heritage properties through the City’s Heritage Conservation Program.
