Plans and records on almost every building in Saskatoon are available to be viewed by owners and those with permission. Original information dating back to the early 20th century is available at the Building Standards Branch.
Who can request a building records and blueprints?
Property owners and officially designated third parties (owner's agents) may request building records and blueprints.
Filing a Request for Information
In order request information on a building, a property owner may:
- Requests for viewing, printing and payments are to be made in person at the Building Standards Branch, 3rd Floor - South Wing, City Hall. Regular office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Cash, cheque and Interac is accepted.
- Provide proof of ownership or authorization from the owner is required along with a complete legal description and civic address of the property.
- NOTE: For information obtained by a third party, there is a release authorization form available at the Planning and Building Department receptionist desk. If the customer owns the property, a tax notice and/or personal identification is required as proof of ownership. Legal descriptions may be obtained from the Assessor's Department, and tax notices may be obtained from the Treasurer's Department.
- Blueprints are available for viewing on microfiche by the owner or owner's agent. If a blueprint has been selected for printing, the copy will be ready for pick up by 10 a.m. the next business day. The cost is $2.50 per sheet + GST.
- Copies of the building permit application are available for a cost of $5.00 + GST (front page only), and are available for pickup after 10 a.m. the next business day.
NOTE: Not ALL building plans are available in the branch. Some buildings, especially those built before 1950 do not have any microfiche plans.
ALL plans and record copies ordered will be available for customer pickup by 10:00 a.m. the next business day.
