The Communications Branch plans and directs all corporate communication activities for the civic administration including the development and implementation of public, employee and media relation strategies. The Branch operates in a consultative capacity to the City Manager on communication issues, and acts as an internal resource/consultant for civic departments who do not have resources dedicated to communications.

The Branch also manages various activities such as communications campaigns, advertising, the distribution of news releases, event management, brochure development, social media, and internal communications including the production of the employee newsletter "Currents".

Social Media
The Communications Branch manages all social media for the City of Saskatoon, including the corporate blog at www.saskatooncitynews.ca, corporate Facebook page at www.facebook.com/saskatooncitynews, and Twitter page at www.twitter.com/cityofsaskatoon. City Page
The Communications Branch is responsible for the creation of the weekly City Page which appears in Saturday's StarPhoenix. The City Page integrates all corporate advertising and civic notices with the exception of career and tender ads.

Services Surveys
Every year, the Communications Branch conducts a survey to gauge citizens' concerns and satisfaction with civic services. This information is then used by senior management and departments to assist in the formation of the three-year Corporate Business Plan and annual departmental business plans.
